Leaders of a local economic development agency are back in Tucson, following a solar industry promotion tour last week in Washington D.C. and New York City. Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities, better known as TREO, led a marketing mission of Tucson business executives and academic researchers promoting solar energy on our community.

TREO says the delegation gained some media attention in international magazines, along with newspapers and radio and television stations, as they stressed the importance of the University of Arizona’s science and engineering departments and the availability of talented individuals in the region.

"This trip was very useful for getting Tucson’s message to leading national and international media, and because we were able to bring important companies and organizations in our solar industry before influential journalists,” said Joe Snell, TREO President and CEO. “This will help put Tucson on the solar map and in the minds of important decision makers.”

The tour also included a visit to the UA's Solar House, which was part of the National Solar Decathlon on Washington, D.C.
