Mostly Mozart Festival 2011 opens on August 2 with a gala featuring the acclaimed violinist Christian Tetzlaff and the Festival debut of violist Antoine Tamestit under music director Louis Langrée leading the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra in Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante in E-flat major for violin and viola. American soprano Susanna Phillips, receiving acclaim at numerous opera houses for her vibrant, yet sensitive interpretations of Mozart, joins the orchestra for the composer’s “Crudele?...Non mi dir, bell’idol mio” from Don Giovanni and “Bella mia fiamma…Resta, o cara.” Langrée brings the opening night program to a rousing close with Mozart’s “Linz” Symphony.
