Matinee broadcasts from The Metropolitan Opera continue on Classical 90.5 at 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, January 3, with a performance of Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck. The libretto is by the composer's sister, Adelheid Wette, who based it on the Grimm brothers' fairy tale Hansel and Gretel. The production will be sung in English and will run approximately two hours and twenty-five minutes.

Sir Andrew Davis conducts Humperdinck's lush fairy-tale opera about siblings lost in some very perilous woods as the Met's holiday presentation for families.
