D-M Change of Command

Life in the military involves moving every few years, usually that is not accompanied by the full ceremony that the military can muster, unless the move involves a change of command

Watch Highlights of the Change of Command Ceremony

Members of the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base community gathered in a hanger to bid farewell to Brigadier General Paul T. Johnson who has been in command of the 355th Fighter Wing and DM as a whole for the past two years. During his tenure General Johnson has seen a solar array and an on-base charter school come on-line. He also oversaw the deployment of hundreds of airmen to Afghanistan. General Johnson now heads to Afghanistan where he will command the 451st Air Expeditionary Wing at Kandahar Airfield.

Colonel John Cherrey, who just left the 451st assumes command at Davis-Monthan. Colonel Cherry told the assembled base personnel that nothing will change; he simply wants the 355th Fighter Wing to continue to be the best.
