The pioneering and endearing television chef Julia Child would have been 100 years old on August 15th, 2012.
Arizona Public Media is proud to join public broadcast stations around the country in celebrating her legacy this month with some special events.
That gave Mark McLemore an opportunity to talk with Patricia Barey, a Tucson writer who co-authored a book with Illinois resident Therese Burson called Julia's Cats: Julia Child's Life in the Company of Cats, published by [Abrams Books](http://www.abramsbooks.com/Books/Julia_s_Cats-9781419702754.html].
Previously, Barey and Burson have produced documentaries dealing with topics such as health care and the arts.
Intrigued by the notion of discovering the "ingredients" that made up Julia Child's personal recipe for happiness, the two writers began to explore Child's history through the many letters, postcards, and photographs that she and her devoted husband Paul Child left behind.
When they discovered that Julia Child had a fascination with felines, and that it was something that virtually coincided with her discovery of her love for cooking, the book began to take shape.
Julia Child is "Chef of the Month" on ReadyTV throughout the month of August, with mini-marathons airing on Sundays. (ReadyTV is available at broadcast 6-3, Comcast 201 & Cox 82.)
