Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., made a nationally-televised appearance Thursday at the Democratic National Convention.

Giffords led the crowd of convention delegates in the Pledge of Allegiance, along with her friend, and DNC chairwoman U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, D-Fla.

It was one of few public appearances Giffords has made since leaving the public eye to recover from a gunshot wound to the head in January, 2011.

She moved to Houston to undergo intensive rehabilitation for much of 2011, and moved back to Tucson last month.
