The Red Barn Theatre Company has opened its 10th anniversary season with the classic musical South Pacific. The musical will have continued showings through Sept. 30.

Founded by theater enthusiast Joanne Anderson, the theater has evolved from a one-show season when it started to a six-show season now, specializing in standard musicals and plays.

"There is a lot of good theater in Tucson. But there just wasn't a place to see a standard," says Anderson.

Every show this season was selecvted by audience vote from last year, and that will make it a special year, Anderson says.

"We are doing repeats, all voted on by our audiences. We are doing the shows they want to see again," says Robert Ulsrud, the theater's board president.
