"Dr. Wick Haxton is a professor in the Department of Physics, UC Berkeley, as well as a senior faculty scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He joined the Berkeley faculty in 2009 after teaching for 25 years at the University of Washington, where he also directed the National Institute for Nuclear Theory from 1991 to 2006. A member of the National Academy of Sciences, he is a fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has served the American Physical Society as chair of the Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics Divisions, and was the recipient in 2004 of the Hans.
