A Short Preview of Arizona's Dust Bowl: Lessons Lost

In the 1930s, the U.S. was being ravaged by the Dust Bowl, a natural disaster caused by prolonged drought. It led to thousands of residents of the Midwest, particularly Oklahoma and Arkansas, to move west. Many stopped in Arizona to work in the state's cotton fields and stayed. They changed Arizona forever with their new customs, cultures and beliefs. Today, as giant dust storms regularly form in the deserts of southern Arizona, some are asking if we could suffer another Dust Bowl?

Steve Winwood: Five Decades Of Song

Steve Winwood has wrapped his voice around hundreds of songs in a career that spans almost 50 years. In 1965, at age 14, he joined the Spencer Davis Group. He formed Blind Faith with Eric Clapton and others in 1969. He was a founding member of Traffic, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. He had a string of Top 40 hits in the 1980s. And Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at #33 on its 100 Greatest Singers list.
