The Tucson Police Officers Association will take 300 Tucson children shopping, using money the organization has raised to give the city's less fortunate a better Christmas.
Shopping day will be Dec. 15, said William Bonanno, president of the association. Each child will be given $100 to spend as part of the "Kids and Cops Christmas Event."
Officers raise the money for the event through donations from businesses and individuals, and all contributions are tax deductible.
Bonanno said the children are always practical, not going just for the latest toys but also selecting needed items of clothing and personal items and often purchasing items for their family members.
