Hollywood at Home: Soldier in the Rain

A smooth operating master sergeant is constantly getting his hero-worshipping supply sergeant out of trouble. Sturday at 9 p.m. on PBS 6. by Colleen Greer

In this 1963 film, Sergeant Eustis Clay (Steve McQueen) is a soldier who views his time in the service with disdain all while dreaming of bigger and better things that await him once he finishes. Despite his attitude, Clay befriends and is favored by Master Sergeant Maxwell Slaughter (Jackie Gleason), a military officer who appreciates Clay’s companionship.
