Rogue Theatre recipient of prestigious arts award

The Rogue Theatre of Tucson is celebrating its eighth season and has received the 2012 National Theatre Company Award, presented by the American Theatre Wing.

The award and its accompanying $10,000 grant are intended to acknowledge the Rogue Theatre as an arts organization that has "articulated a distinctive mission, cultivated an audience, and nurtured a community of artists in ways that strengthen and demonstrate the quality, diversity, and dynamism of American theatre,” the presentation statement said.

The Rogue is one of 10 companies in the country to win the award

It's next production will be Bertolt Brecht's "Mother Courage and Her Children," with performances Jan. 10–27, 2013. The Rogue Theatre is in The Historic YWCA building at 300 E. University Blvd.
