Officials with the Tucson Police Department and the Tucson Mayor’s office are finalizing plans to add more security to City Hall.

Specifically, they are hoping to have a full-time TPD officer stationed in the City Hall lobby. That officer would be able to respond to calls as well as provide a visual security reminder.

The officer would also be available to accompany the mayor to offsite meetings when needed.

City officials say the plan for increased security must be balanced with the public's need to have access to their elected leaders.
