Tucson resident Naomi Benaron’s debut novel, Running the Rift, was the recipient of the 2010 Barbara Kingsolver Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction.

The book tells the story of a young Tutsi boy's life in the years leading up to the genocide in Rwanda.

Benaron's short story collection, Love Letters from a Fat Man, was recognized with the 2006 Sharat Chandra Prize for fiction.

Benaron will be appearing with authors Craig Johnson, Jonathan Tropper and Tom Zoellner at the Tucson chapter of the Brandeis University National Committee's 17th Annual Book & Author Luncheon, with events March 6 and 7 at Skyline Country Club in Tucson.
