Senate Bill 1314- Parents and Children

Senate Bill 1314 deals with parents and children. It puts in the statutes that it is Arizona’s public policy that it is in the best interest of a child “to have substantial and meaningful parenting time with both parents.” SB 1314 does also say that if there is evidence that contact with a parent is not good or safe for a child the requirements do not apply. SB 1314 does not spell out what is substantial or meaningful time, that is left up to judges to determine.

On April 20, 2010 the full House passed SB 1314 on a 31-26 vote.
