Senate Bill 1043 - AHCCCS

April 22, 2010 | AZPM

Senate Bill1043 is an amended bill designed to bring Arizona back in compliance with federal law so that state does not forfeit $7.8 million in federal Medicaid funding. Earlier this year, the Legislature voted to cut the KidsCare program and also cut 310, 000 adults from the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) in order to save money. That move, however, put federal Medicaid matching funds in jeopardy. SB 1043 moves $9 million back into KidCare and restore the funding for AHCCCS. The move for the adults in AHCCCS does depend on the arrival of expected federal funds that are part of the new health care program passed by Congress and signed by the President.
