The sun never really seems to set on the Old West. Its popularity continues to endure as both a rich era of American history and as a source of artistic inspiration.

In recognition of that popularity, Old Tucson Studios plays host to the 3rd annual Cowboy Music Festival and Western Art Show on Saturday and Sunday.

Joining AZ Illustrated Arts host Elizabeth Burden to discuss their dedication to Western art are musician Bill Ganz, leader of the Bill Ganz Western Band, and artist Diana Madaras, a painter and gallery owner who lives and works in Tucson.

A classic song of the American West is Ghost Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend, composed in 1948 by Stan Jones, a native of Douglas. Ganz chooses to sing and perform the song as Jones wrote it, which includes the original version of the song's lyrics.
