Chris Black is a musician and the founder of ChamberLab, a classical music series celebrating it’s anniversary this month.
Black says ChamberLab takes music that is normally confined to concert halls and larger performance venues and introduces it in more accessible settings.
“We’re putting on chamber music in really casual venues like Hotel Congress, Café Desta or The Screening Room,” says Black. “We’re bringing that music to people that wouldn’t normally go to a concert hall.”
Cassandra Bendickson, a bassoonist, says performing with ChamberLab is a departure from her traditional classical ensembles.
“There’s this whole side of the Tucson music-scene that I had no idea existed,” says Bendickson.
ChamberLab performs in concert Saturday at 7 p.m. at Café Desta.
