Former legislator Ted Vogt has been named director of the Arizona Department of Veterans Services, Gov. Jan Brewer's office announced in a press release.
Vogt, a Tucsonan, served one term in the House of Representatives, to which he was elected in 2010. He lost in the 2012 after redistricting altered the political balance in his central Tucson district.
Vogt, 40, is an Air Force veteran. He served as an intelligence officer in Afghanistan and other posts in the Middle East in support of the war in Iraq.
“Ted’s military background and management experience make him uniquely qualified for this position,” Brewer said in a statement. “ ... I’m confident Ted will be a tremendous asset to the department and a strong voice for Arizona veterans.”
Vogt earned a degree from the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law in 2010.
