Dr. Robert Shelton's first day as President of The University of Arizona began early with a surprise visit from UA students, cheerleaders, the Alumni Pep Band, reporters, photographers and Wilma the Wildcat. The crew arrived at his front door to escort him to campus on the Shelton Shuttle, a.k.a., CatTran.

"After months of preparation and excited anticipation, I am thrilled to be on the job," Shelton said. He was greeted at the Administration building by hundreds of students, faculty and staff and wish him well on his first day. "My wife, Adrian, and I already feel at home thanks to the warm welcome from the wonderful Tucson community."
