A wildfire in the small Arizona town of Kearny now is 50 percent contained and evacuations have been lifted for residents of about 100 homes.
The number of firefighters battling the Shipman Fire doubled to about 200 Tuesday as crews worked to dig containment lines.
The fire has burned an estimated 518 acres of dense vegetation in a dry riverbed and burned one house.
The lightning-caused fire sparked Monday.
Firefighters are using a bulldozer and other equipment to protect homes and the town's airstrip.
Kearny is located 73 miles southeast of Phoenix.
