Jocelyn Strauss, the organization's Tucson chapter leader, said the 'stroller jams' were in response to a recent account of a young man riding a Sun Tran bus with a loaded AR-15, a semi-automatic riffle.

"I don't know how many stops the young man (rode), but it made everyone very uncomfortable," said Strauss, who is a single mother of two. She and her kids ride the bus often.

Strauss said that, according to Sun Tran, there isn't a written policy preventing guns on public transportation in Tucson. It turns out Arizona prohibits the city, and all other local jurisdictions, from passing and enforcing a gun ban on public transit.

"We just feel there should be some oversight," Strauss said. "We're supposed to report suspicious activity, but when do you draw the line? When someone starts shooting, or when someone comes on (the bus) with a loaded assault riffle?"

She said the organization is planning future events similar to the 'stroller jam.'
