The Town of Marana issued more single family residence permits than any other local government in Southern Arizona so far this year, town officials said.

Marana issued 474 permits from January through the end of July, according to Bright Future Real Estate Research.

Gilbert Davidson, Marana's town manger, said the town is on track to surpass the 526 permits it issued in 2012.

“I do think it is a sign that people are becoming more confident and they are willing to make (investments)," Davidson said. "For most individuals (and) families, the purchase of a home is the largest one that they will make. I think seeing the numbers we have in Marana, and the families that are moving a good indicator that things are getting a little better.”

The Dove Mountain and Tangerine Road areas are the busiest for single family residence permits, Marana officials said.

Other numbers compiled by the real estate research showed Tucson issued 142 permits, Sahuarita issued 169, and Oro Valley issued 97 so far this year.
