International Car Free Day is celebrated Sept. 22. But that’s a Sunday this year, and people tend to drive a lot less on that day.

The Pima Association of Governments is asking people to park their cars for the entire weekend to celebrate car-free day. They hope people will walk, bike or use public transportation instead of driving.

“The goal is to get people to try living without their car for a day, to see how easy it is in the hope that they will make it a more regular thing than just this weekend," said Ruth Reiman, manager at PAG.

Those wanting to take part can go to the International Car Free Day website to pledge for a day or the whole weekend.
