Separate Tables takes place during the quiet off-season at the lonely seaside Beauregard Hotel in Bournemoth, Britain. The main feature of the hotel is its separate tables, rather than "family style" dining, for the guests. The film follows the long-term tenants whose lives become intertwined as a result of love affairs and secrets. David Niven won a Best Actor Oscar for his role as the military man with a past.
