Pima County Superior Court in Tucson has a new judge.
Gov. Jan Brewer on Wednesday announced the appointment of D. Douglas Metcalf.
He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Howard Hantman.
Metcalf has been a partner with the law firm of Lewis and Roca since 2000, focusing primarily on commercial litigation, state and federal tax controversy, and employment law.
He also has criminal, appellate and administrative law experience.
Metcalf previously was a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice from 1990 to 1996 and was a law clerk for the U.S. Tax Court from 1987 to 1990.
He graduated from Drake University's law school and earned a master of laws in taxation from Georgetown University.
