In honor of Veteran’s Day, national parks will not be charging entrance fees the entire three-day weekend.

In Southern Arizona, that includes both east and west parts of Saguaro National Park and the Coronado National Forest.

The U.S. Forest Service is warning people to take advantage of the parks, but remember the rules that normally apply in the forest, such as fire safety.

"Even though it’s cooling off, conditions across the Coronado National Forest are still quite dry,” said Heidi Schewel, communications staff officer at Coronado National Forest. “We currently have a wildfire burning near the border on Washington Mountain. A lot of the fuels like grasses, shrubs and so forth are quite dry, so we don’t want people to let their guard down.”

Entrance fees are the only waived charges over the three-day weekend.

Other charges ,such as camping fees or charges associated without outside vendors - such as the tram ride at Sabino Canyon - may still apply.
