Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream - December 21, 2013

The Metropolitan Opera

Matinee broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera continue on Classical 90.5 at 11:00 this Saturday, December 21st, with a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream by Benjamin Britten, set to a libretto adapted by the composer and Peter Pears from William Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream. The performance will be sung in English and will run approximately three hours and twenty minutes.

The Met celebrates the 2013 Britten centennial with the composer's exquisite adaptation of Shakespeare's magical romance, returning to the repertoire for the first time in ten years. James Conlon conducts the brilliantly original score, sung by a gifted ensemble.
