Democratic state Sen. Leah Landrum-Taylor is set to formally announce she is running for Arizona Secretary of State in 2014 after months of exploring a run for her party's nomination.

Landrum Taylor's campaign said she plans to make the announcement at a state Capitol press conference Monday morning. She is the only Democrat so far in the race.

Republicans in the race include state Sen. Michele Reagan, Rep. Justin Pierce and investor Wil Cardon.

The secretary of state in Arizona is the state's top election officer.

Incumbent Ken Bennett is barred by term limits from running for re-election but is running for Republican nomination for governor.

Landrum Taylor served for the past year at leader of the Senate's Democrats but was ousted from the post in October.
