Gov. Jan Brewer appointed a new director for the Arizona Department of Gaming Wednesday, said a press release from the governor's office.
Daniel H. Bergin has worked in the department since 2009, and had served as the interim director since September of this year.
"In addition to a strong understanding of Arizona gaming issues, Mr. Bergin brings an extensive legal background, in both state and private practice," Brewer said in her statement. "His service as interim director has made for a smooth and effective transition within the department, and I am confident he will successfully continue to carry out the agency's duties."
Bergin previously served as the department's deputy director, where he supervised manages and supervisors, oversaw budgeting, accounting, and human resources, and developed and submitted the department's yearly budget and appropriation requests, the press release said.
He is replacing outgoing director, Mark Brnovich, who left in September.
