Another Arizona legislator is stepping down because of a new job.

According to The Arizona Republic Sen. Linda Lopez plans to step down next month. The Tucson Democrat will be departing from the Legislature halfway through her current two-year term.

Lopez was elected to the state House in 2001, and she was elected to the Senate in 2008. She has held several legislative leadership positions.

Window Rock Democrat Jack Jackson Jr. and Mesa Republican Rich Crandall also resigned from the Senate this year to take new jobs.

The Pima County Board of Supervisors will pick a replacement for Lopez by choosing among nominees from Democratic Party officials.
