Former University of Arizona athletic director David Strack died over the weekend.

Strack was head of UA's athletics from 1972 to1982.

He made headlines in his first year on the job when he hired Fred Snowden as the men’s basketball coach. Snowden was the first black coach of a Division-One basketball program.
