Gov. Jan Brewer named a new director of the Arizona Department of Revenue Friday, said a press release from the governor's office.

David Raber has been acting director since the passing of then-Director John Greene back in October 2013, and had also served as the chief deputy director since 2011.

“John’s untimely passing was a great loss to the department, to the state and to all who had the good fortune of knowing him,” Brewer said in her statement. “Thankfully, Mr. Raber’s expertise and leadership proved integral in making an unexpected transition seamless and effective. He has done tremendous work in Arizona state government for more than two decades, and I’m confident he will continue to do so as the new director of ADOR.”

Prior to joining ADOR, between 2009-10, Raber was the interim director of the Arizona Department of Administration, and its deputy director in 2011.

Throughout his work with ADOR, among his accomplishments was helping stop $32 million in fraudulent tax returns.
