Internet search-engine giant, Google, is joining UA telescope project to help organize the massive amounts of data it will collect. The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope or LSST is scheduled to begin operations in 2013 from Chile in a decade-long survey that will continually scan the entire visible sky. The LSST project will generate more than 30,000 gigabytes (30TB) of image data each evening, the equivalent of thousands of feature films. The data will be available to everyone on the internet.
