The Lyric Opera of Chicago's broadcast season concludes on Classical 90.5 at noon this Saturday, July 5, with a performance of La Clemenza Di Tito by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with an Italian libretto by Caterino Mazzolà, after Metastasio. The performance will be sung in Italian and will run approximately three hours.
Tenor Matthew Polenzani takes on the title role of the Roman emperor Titus, the target of an assassination scheme by the vengeful Vitellia, sung by Amanda Majeski. Mezzo-soprano Cecilia Hall and lyric soprano Emily Birsan co-star as the young lovers Annio and Servilia. Sir Andrew Davis conducts.
