National Record Store Day is April 19 and plenty of shops around Tucson will be participating this year. While the popularity of vinyl records has been on the rise for quite some time, few record collectors have the level of enthusiasm for the medium as Mike Dixon does.

Dixon is one of the world's few makers of short-run vinyl records, creating them with Lathe Cuts, a business that he's recently taken on full-time.

After relocating from Olympia, Wash., Dixon is quickly becoming an important part of Tucson's local music scene.
