Rincon Market is planning to reopen in the middle of next month after rebuilding from a devastating 2013 fire.
Owner Ron Abbott said the target date of mid May is several months later than the initial estimates for reopening because of more extensive renovations, and delays in some supplies for the new market.
The July 2013 fire caused damage that was expected to take about six months to repair, but the market remains closed, Abbott said.
“Our new salad bar, which is a crucial part, is coming out of New York and you know with weather delays out there over the last few months, things have gotten pushed back." Abbott said.
After the equipment is all installed, the city will do a final health inspection. Then, the market will order inventory, stock the shelves, and reopen in a few weeks, he said.
