The veterans clinic at the UA College of Law gives free legal advice and representation to veterans charged with non-felony crimes. Since 2010, law students have earned hands-on experience by representing clients in the Tucson Veterans Court treatment program. The program is an alternative route for veterans to receive court-mandated counseling instead of serving jail time. The law students also help veterans upgrade their discharge status to receive G.I. Bill benefits. The law students have so far represented more than 300 Arizona veterans.
