Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is endorsing state Sen. Michele Reagan in her bid to become the Republican nominee in the race for secretary of state.
The governor said Thursday that Reagan is the best of the three Republicans in the race partly because of her experience as chairman of the Senate Elections Committee.
The secretary of state is Arizona's top election officer and also becomes governor if there's a midterm vacancy in that office.
Reagan is facing state Rep. Justin Pierce and businessman Wil Cardon in the Aug. 26 primary. The winner takes on Democrat Terry Goddard in the November general election.
Brewer endorsed Mark Brnovich in the GOP race for attorney general last week over incumbent Attorney General Tom Horne.
