Tony Paniagua is joined in the studio by two authors with very different backgrounds and perspectives about the prison system.

Richard Shelton is an English professor at the University of Arizona who spent many years sharing his knowledge behind bars. His book is Crossing the Yard: Thirty Years as a Prison Volunteer.

Poet and scientist, Ken Lamberton attended writing workshops taught by Shelton while serving a 12 year prison term. His book is called Time of Grace: Thoughts on Nature, Family, and the Politics of Crime and Punishment.
