The Animal League of Green Valley was founded in 1984 to provide a home for GV residents wo could no longer care for their cats or dogs or who had died and left their pets behind. Back then it was done through foster homes, but the group opened a building in 2001 and the demand for their services has been growing ever since. Now they are building an addition to provide extra kennels, a kitchen, isolation rooms, storage and other services. An example of the need: In 2004, the league found homes for 96 but this year they expect to place more than 500 animals.
