A group funded by former congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords, and her husband, Mark Kelly, has pulled an anti-Martha McSally ad off the air a day early.

The Americans for Responsible Solutions ad argued the Republican, who is running for the seat in Arizona's Congressional District 2, supports policies facilitating stalkers to get guns.

Pia Carusone, executive director of the ARS, said McSally changed her position on allowing people convicted of misdemeanor stalking to own guns, so the spot was taken off the air.

“We’ve always said that if a candidate running for office changes their mind, changes their position that would leave any of our programs, ads, or mail or statements inaccurate, we would be happy to change our plans," she said.

Patrick Ptak, spokesman for McSally's campaign, said the candidate has not changed her stance. Ptak said McSally has always opposed convicted stalkers being able to get firearms.

The McSally campaign called for the ad’s removal as soon as it went on TV a week ago. The Arizona Republic editorial board called the spot “base and vile.”

McSally is facing Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep. Ron Barber in the general election, Nov. 4.
