Many see solar energy as a powerful resource that can wean us from fossil fuels, protect the environment and reduce our dependence on foreign sources of fuel. Tony Paniagua talks to the city of Tucson's solar energy coordinator as well as US Reps. Gabrielle Giffords and Harry Mitchell, also from Arizona.
One issue is the Solar Grand Plan which seeks to provide more than a third of the nation's energy requirements from the sun by 2050. The other is the price tag; estimated at at least 420 billion dollars in various government subsidies in the next four decades.
