Home sales in Tucson dropped 25.2 percent from December to January, the Tucson Association of Realtors reported Thursday.

The 805 homes sold in the area also represented a 5.7 percent drop from January 2014.

Despite the decline, an association official said he was not worried.

"We did see an unexpected drop over the December numbers, but we still expect moderate gains," association President Henry Zipf said. "We still expect to see continued growth, and all of the fundamentals are in place for a successful 2015.”

Other statistics for the month were positive. Median sales price was up 1.9 percent year-to-year, and the number of active listings rose.

Zipf pointed to another number as a sign that sales will pick up, pending home sales. The number of homes going through the purchase process rose 35 percent from December to January.

The completion of those sales should be a boost to February's sales numbers, Zipf said.
