A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) score is commonly used by doctors to diagnose osteoporosis, a debilitating bone loss disease.

Now a researcher at The University of Arizona's College of Public Health has found there is a strong association between bone mineral density (BMD) and postmenopausal breast cancer risk.

The study looked at more than 10,000 postmenopausal women and found that BMD can help assess breast cancer risk.
