Work on the state budget was quiet during the last week of February, but things are expected to heat up in March. The state Senate is suspending all committee meetings for the first week of March so members can concentrate on the budget. The House is also scaling back its committee work for the week. The House and Senate will both be on the floor during the week to deal with non-budget bills.

Meanwhile, Treasurer Dean Martin(R) is out with a proposal he says will save the state $1 billion and allow Arizona to repurchase the state capitol building. It should be noted that Martin is running for Governor.
