A group of four hikers who had not been seen since Sunday morning have been spotted by the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Rescue crews have made visual and telephonic contact with the group.

"They're going to need to be evaluated medically because they've been out for so long, but everybody appears to be okay," said Pima County Sheriff spokesperson Courtney Rodriguez. "They do seem to be a little bit more northeast of the actual trail, so it's going a little bit involved getting them out of the field."

Authorities were alerted to the missing hikers this morning. A woman called after her father, brother and two daughters had been gone for nearly 24 hours after heading for a hike on Mt. Lemmon's Butterfly Trail.

The missing individuals were identified as William Swango, 57; Ronald Swango, 27; Layla Nash, 4; and Riley Nash, 6.

Rodriguez said details of how the group went missing will not be known until they are safe.
