Sometimes, a student's hard work can be rewarded with a scholarship to help defray the ever-rising cost of education. Monique Perez is one of 23 Tucson-area students who, out of a pool of 180 applicants, were recognized with a scholarship from the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's president and CEO, Lea Marquez Peterson, talks with Monique about her dedication to education, and Monique's excitement over being a University of Arizona freshman in the fall.

In cooperation with Tucson Values Teachers, Arizona Public Media presents Teachers' Voices. These conversations between educators, their peers, and their students focus on the real experiences they face each day in Arizona's schools and classrooms.

Funding for the production of Teachers' Voices is provided by Wells Fargo and the University of Arizona College of Education.

The series is produced by Matt Felix for Arizona Spotlight.
