Post-Election Canvass: More Arizona Voters Than Ever

State officials have certified the 2016 general election in Arizona.

Election Day was historic in Arizona, more voters than ever cast ballots. However, the percentage of voters who went to the polls was just average.

According to the official canvass of the election, conducted Monday, 74.2 percent of registered voters cast a ballot in the general election. In comparison, 80.1 percent of Arizona voters cast ballots in the 1980 presidential election.

Pima County had the second highest voter turnout at 78.47 percent.

The county did break for losing candidates in two high profile races. Voters in Pima County supported Democrats Hillary Clinton and Ann Kirkpatrick in their races for President and U.S. Senate.

President-elect Donald Trump won the state by 3.5 percent.
