Arizona’s U.S. Representatives Split on Obamacare Repeal

Though the divide isn't necessarily based on party lines.

Arizona’s members of the U.S. House are at odds over the current version of the bill to remove and replace the Affordable Care Act.

Democratic representatives Tom O’Halleran, Kyrsten Sinema, and Raul Grijalva are all on the record opposing the bill.

Rep. O’Halleran issued a statement saying he cannot support a measure that fails to improve affordability.

That opposition is crossing party lines. Republican Rep. Andy Biggs told The Hill newspaper that he is leaning so far against the bill he is “reclining.”

Republican Rep. Martha McSally is supporting the bill. Her support came after a new version of the bill was unveiled that included more flexibility for the states.

That flexibility is important to Republican Gov. Doug Ducey. He was not a supporter of the original bill. His office said Ducey is supportive of the changes, thought a spokesperson said the Governor is still studying the entire proposal.
